Knitting and Crochet Workshops

Make your yarn into whatever you want; add colour and texture to create warmth and style.

  • Beginners knitting. If you are going to spin (or even if you aren’t) you need to learn to knit. Knitting your own hand-spun yarn, or a special shop-bought product, makes for a very special gift for yourself or others. This workshop is for those who have never picked up needles and yarn before and starts from the basics of casting on, knit and purl stitch, and casting off.
  • Fair isle knitting. Working with colour to produce pattern, this workshop is for those who know how to knit but would like to extend their skill. Learn to read a pattern chart, how to knit with more than one colour at once and how to deal with ‘floats’ of yarn to produce a tidy piece.
  • Tunisian crochet. A cross between knitting and crochet, this technique uses a single long needle to cast stitches on and off, producing a thick, warm fabric with a lovely texture. Learn to cast on, knit, purl, make a fancy stitch and cast off.
